Frequently Asked Questions (for Students)
Mentorship Programme is a one-year programme that begins every November. It is structured as a one-to-one/ one-to-two partnership between the mentor and the mentee (current student of HKSYU).
It facilitates mentees’ educational, social, and personal growth through the Mentorship Programme. Additionally, it provides students with the opportunity to broaden their horizons through interactions with experienced professionals and senior executives, fostering stronger interpersonal communication skills.
Under the Mentorship Programme, the mentee will participate in a variety of activities, including individual meetings with the mentor and sharing sessions. Additionally, the OSA will organize supplementary activities for students to strengthen the mentor-mentee relationship.
Students in any discipline are welcome to join the programme.
There are certain duties and responsibilities that come with the privilege of being a mentee. For example, mentees are expected to attend the opening ceremony, various activities (such as career workshops and sharing sessions organized by the OSA or arranged by the mentors), and submit a programme survey at the end of the programme.
Mentorship Programme does not offer placement services. Through the Mentorship Programme, you can learn from mentors’ valuable experiences, identify career interests and goals, and build social networks for future development.
Mentors are senior executives/managers with at least 5 years of work experience in various businesses or industries. They possess extensive social and professional networks and are eager to offer help, dedicating their time and effort to nurture the younger generation. You will be assigned ONE mentor based on your field of interest. Additionally, you can expand your network by connecting with other mentors through various gatherings or activities.
You are most welcome to cultivate a long-term relationship between mentors and mentees. From our experience, some mentors and mentees remain in touch for many years, with mentors often organizing gatherings for mentees from various cohorts. Mentees also maintain connections with their mentors even after completing the programme.
Yes, all students are welcome to join us again. However, priority will be given to those who are participating in the programme for the first time.
A certificate of attendance will be provided to the participants upon completion of the programme with over 80% attendance of the events, this will also be recorded in the participants’ Award and Co-curricular Achievement Transcript (ACAT).
