News on student work restrictions lifted
Starting from 1 November 2023, full-time non-local postgraduate students will be temporarily exempted from the restrictions on working part-time jobs. This arrangement will run on a trial basis for two years.

- Temporarily exempting full-time non-local undergraduate students from restrictions on taking up part-time jobs
Starting from November 1, 2024, the Government will temporarily exempt full-time non-local undergraduate students from the restrictions on taking up part-time jobs with a view to enhancing their personal exposure and knowledge for working in Hong Kong to incentivise them to stay in Hong Kong for development after graduation. With a “No Objection Letter” (NOL) issued by the Immigration Department (ImmD), full-time non-local postgraduate students are allowed to take up part-time employment. No restrictions are imposed on the number of hours or the location of the part-time work. “The Chief Executive’s 2024 Policy Address” announced the temporary exemption of the restrictions on taking up part-time jobs will be extended to full-time non-local undergraduate students. The ImmD will issue NOLs setting out the suspension arrangement to all eligible students through their institutions. They are not required to submit applications separately.

- 暫免全日制非本地本科生參與兼職工作的限制
由二零二四年十一月一日起，政府會暫免在港就讀全日制非本地本科生參與兼職工作的限制，增進他們對在港工作的親身體驗和認識，提升他們畢業後留港發展的意欲。全日制非本地研究生在獲得入境事務處（入境處）發出「不反對通知書」後，可從事兼職工作，工作時數及地點不受限制。《行政長官2024年施政報告》宣布將暫免兼職工作限制的安排擴展至全日制非本地本科生。入境處會經各院校向所有合資格學生簽發暫免安排的「不反對通知書」，無需另行申請。
